Dr Suja Padmanabhan
Endocrinologist

Dr Suja Padmanabhan is a Specialist Endocrinologist experienced in the treatment of all endocrine conditions including Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, insulin pump, thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary and adrenal disorders. Dr Padmanabhan has a special interest in the treatment of diabetes, endocrine disorders in pregnancy, women’s health, weight management and PCOS.

Dr Suja Padmanabhan graduated from the University of New South Wales with Honors in 2004. She underwent Physicians and Endocrine training at Prince of Wales and Westmead Hospital. She has a Masters of Public health and a PhD in the area of Diabetes and Pregnancy with the University of Sydney. She is the recipient of the prestigious postgraduate NHMRC scholarship, the Sydney Medical School Foundation Scholarship and in 2016 received the Australian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society investigator award for her research. She continues to maintain an active role in diabetes research, publishing nationally and internationally.

In addition to her private rooms at Sydney Cardiology, Dr Padmanabhan is a Staff Specialist Endocrinologist at Westmead hospital running public outpatient clinics in Diabetes in Pregnancy and the Integrated Diabetes Care Service. She is a Visiting Medical Officer at Westmead Private Hospital and a Senior Clinical Lecturer with the University of Sydney.

Dr Suja Padmanabhan is well liked by her patients for her warm and caring nature. She is passionate about providing a comprehensive, holistic approach based on the latest research to achieve the best outcome for her patients.

 

Dr Tracy Smith
Respiratory and Sleep Physician

Dr Tracy Smith is an experienced Respiratory and Sleep physician. She completed advanced training in Sleep and Respiratory training at St George Hospital. She has advanced skills in symptom assessment and management through her additional qualifications and experience in Palliative Care. She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2009. She completed a PhD in 2018 which focusses on the symptom burden and experiences of people with respiratory failure due to lung or heart disease.

Dr Tracy Smith is Staff Specialist in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine and the lead physician for the Respiratory Integrated Care program at Westmead Hospital.

The Respiratory Integrated Care program  seeks to bridge the gap between general practice and hospital based care, emphasising wholistic, person-centred care for people with COPD. As part of this program Dr Smith co-leads a Breathlessness Clinic which aims to help people living with breathlessness enjoy a full and enriching life despite living with a chronic disease. Her work in this clinic has earned significant research grant support from a number of funding bodies including HCF, Westmead Hospital Research Education Network, and the NSW Health Translational Research Grant Scheme.

Dr Smith is frequently invited to speak at local, national and international conferences on topics in Respiratory Medicine, especially COPD and breathlessness. She has published a number of research articles and continues to be involved in teaching, with an appointment to the University of Sydney as a Conjoint Clinical Senior Lecturer.

Dr Smith prides herself on delivering comprehensive respiratory assessments and
management plan, delivered with compassion and care. She is experienced in all aspects of clinical Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. Her particular clinical interests are COPD and asthma. She is also interested in the assessment and management of people who are breathless but don’t yet have a clear diagnosis.

Dr Constance Yap
Endocrinologist

Dr Constance Yap (Connie) is a Clinical Endocrinologist experienced in the treatment of all endocrine conditions with a special interest in Type 1 and 2 Diabetes and thyroid disorders. She has extensive experience in the management of diabetes in pregnancy and thyroid in pregnancy conditions through her many years working at the Diabetes and Thyroid in Pregnancy Clinics at Westmead Hospital.

Dr. Connie Yap completed her Bachelor of Science and Medicine degrees at the University of
New South Wales. She underwent Endocrine training at Concord Hospital and Westmead
Hospital. She has a Master of Medicine (Clinical Epidemiology) from the University of Sydney. She was awarded a PhD for her research in the area of vitamin D and diabetes in pregnancy and received the Clinical Young Investigator Award for the Australian Diabetes Society in 2012 for her research. Dr. Connie Yap is a caring clinician and strives to provide compassionate, comprehensive and holistic care to all her patients.
